Could the original bad blood between religions have stemmed from the Crusades a thousand years ago, when Christians openly made war against the lands of Islam and ruthlessly killed them in the name of God? Warrios of the Cross came into Muslim cities and pillaged, destroyed, and raped while the forces of Islam mostly refrained from cruelty. There were several instances in which Crusaders showed terrible brutality, for instance when Richard the Lionhearted ordered the execution of 2,000 civilians from the city of Acre because Saladin could not comply with his requests.
The argument could be made that these actions were done in brutal times when violence was a more popular form of diplomacy, but the acts of the Crusader seem undoubtedly ruthless today. Could the bad relations of the Western World the nations of Islam be a direct result from the deeds of the Crusaders long ago? Have the actions of our forefathers come back to haunt us? What are your opinions?

Don't ever tell anybody anything.
